From texting and video calls to social media and dating apps, digital tools have expanded the possibilities for human connection, regardless of distance or circumstance. At the same time, technology has also introduced new complexities into our social lives—changing communication patterns, reshaping expectations, and sometimes straining intimacy and trust. The question of whether technology has made relationships better or worse is nuanced and multifaceted. This essay explores how technology affects different kinds of relationships—romantic, familial, friendships, and professional—by examining its potential to both enrich and challenge human connection.
