Because of this, some argue that governments should provide financial assistance to artists so they can continue their work without the constant pressure of survival. Others, however, believe that creative individuals should support themselves through the free market rather than rely on public funds. This essay will argue that while self-reliance and private sponsorship have their place, government funding for artists is essential to protect cultural heritage, ensure equal access to art, and promote creativity as a public good rather than a private luxury.
